One of the 1st things that you learn about having kids is that they’re messy. No matter what you do to try to prevent it, there will be messes.
Then you’re left wondering, what the heck just happened? How do I even clean this up?
It seems daunting, I know. But I’ve compiled a list of tried & true ways to clean up the mess.
How To Remove Food Coloring
There’s a love/hate relationship with this stuff. You can use it for so many things but no matter what it seems to get everywhere. The solution is shaving cream!
Your skin. To clean food coloring off of your skin simply rub the shaving cream on the spots where needed. Then wash it off. Depending on how long its been on your skin it may take a couple of washes. The shaving cream removes it much better than regular soap & water.
Counters. To clean food coloring off your counters, spray the cream on the stained area. Rub it into the stain a bit & then let it sit for 3-5 min. Use a damp towel to wipe it away.
How To Remove Stickers
There are 2 methods that I found work best to get stickers off of windows. Using rubbing alcohol or using distilled white vinegar.
Start by peeling off as much of the sticker as you can. Then use a cotton ball soaked in either the vinegar or rubbing alcohol to scrub the window. It comes right off.
You can use a cloth instead of a cotton ball if you want. I preferred the cotton ball because it kept the sticker soaked which helped it come off easier.
How To Remove Crayon Marks
When your little artist needs a way to express themselves, the wall is usually the 1st place that they go. To get crayon off of walls try glass cleaner or a blow dryer.
With the glass cleaner; spray it on the wall then wipe it away with a cloth.
For the blow dryer method. You will need a blow dryer, a cleaning cloth, & a bowl of hot soapy water. Hold the blow dryer over the crayon drawings on high heat for about 2 minutes. While it’s still hot use the soapy rag to wash the crayon away.
Be sure not to scrub your wall too hard, you can remove the paint.
How To Remove Permanent Marker
Even though it says permanent in the title, there are way to gets it off.
From wood. Try rubbing alcohol. Dab it with the rubbing alcohol & let it sit for a minute then wipe it away. Repeat until it’s gone. *Make sure that you test a small area of the wood before doing this to make sure there’s no discoloring.
From walls. Rubbing alcohol was the best method that I tried for this one. Dab the alcohol onto the walls & let it sit for a moment. Then wipe it away.
From carpet. Use shaving cream or white distilled vinegar. The method is the same for both products. Dab either the vinegar or the shaving cream on, let it sit, wipe it away with a damp cloth.

How To Get Vomit Out Of Carpet
I dread cleaning this up more than anything. But thankfully there’s a solution that’s sort of “hands off” to get the vomit out of your carpet.
Baking soda is the trick! Cover the whole mess with lots of baking soda. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Then vacuum it all up. This is awesome because you never have to actually touch the throw up.
What’s left behind is a small stain that can be removed with vinegar. Mix together half water & half white distilled vinegar. Let it sit for a few minutes then use a damp cloth to gently rub it away.
How To Remove Pee Stains
To get pee out of a mattress or couch takes a little time but it’s worth it.
First, soak up as much pee as possible. Then spray the area with a vinegar solution of 2 parts water & 1 part vinegar. You want to make sure the whole area gets covered in the vinegar mix.
Cover the whole area in baking soda & let it sit for 8 hours or overnight if you can. The baking soda will absorb the odor & soak up all the moisture. Then vacuum it all up & your done!
