How To Remove Labels From Glass

I love reusing jars & containers. What I don’t love is getting off those stupid labels. Seriously, why are they so hard to come off? You scrub & scrub & nothing happens.

I decided to go on a search to find the best way to remove the flue & paper pieces that refuse to come off the jar. It wasn’t easy, I assure you. There are so many ways that failed.

But I finally found a tried & true method that worked like a dream.

Here’s what you need:

  • Baking soda
  • Vegetable oil
  • Soap
  • Water
  • Dish cloth or sponge

Step 1

Before removing label

Peel off as much of the label as you can. Soak your jar or container in hot soapy water for 10-15 minutes. This will get the jar clean & loosen any extra glue or paper.

Step 2

Make a mix of half baking soda & half vegetable oil. It should form a paste. Spread the paste mixture onto the sticky part of the bottle. Let it sit for 10 minutes or so.

Step 3

Wash off the jar with warm soapy water.

There you have it! How easy is that? Now you can reuse the jar for anything you need.

I also tried it on plastic containers & it worked great on that too!
